D AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 17 (LICENSES, TAXATION, MISC.), SECTION 17-24 (DELINQUENT LICENSES), OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, BY ADDING A NEW SUBPARAGRAPH (B) PERTAINING TO PENALTIES FOR BUSINESSES WHICH OPERATE WITHOUT A BUSINESS LICENSE. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 17 (Licenses, Taxation, Misc.) Section 17-24 (Delinquent Licenses) is amended as follows: Sec. 17-24. Delinquent licenses. A. All licenses required to be paid by this article shall be deemed delinquent if not paid on the date such payment is due, and all persons so delinquent in the payment of such licenses shall be required to pay an additional ten (10) percent of the amount due therefor for the first month, or part thereof, and one percent for each additional month, or part thereof, that such delinquency shall thereafter continue, in addition to any other penalty prescribed by this Code or by any other ordinance of the city. (Code 1977, §22-9) B. For anv business which operates without a license as required by this chapter for longer than thirty (30) days, that business shall pay a penalty of five hundred dollars (5500.00) in order to obtain or reinstate their business license. The Finance Director may reduce the amount of the fine upon good cause presented to him by the business in question. Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage and approval.
