HomeMy Public PortalAbout1979-04-16 MeetingCOUNCIL MINUTES April 16, 1979 The Council of Bal Harbour Village met Monday, April 16, 1979 at 10:00 A. M. in the Village Hall for the purpose of inducting the new council members into office. Present were Messrs. Krez and Printup and Council -elect members Beatty, Gray and Taplin. Also present were Fred Maley, Village Manager; Mary Wetterer, Village Clerk; and Alan Gold, Village Attorney. After Call to Order by Mayor Printup the Village Clerk reported that for the April 3, 1979 Council Election Dade County had certified 1776 registered voters. The total number of votes cast were 982, being 55% of the registered voters. The count as tallied by the Dade County Elections Department and Absentee Ballots counted by herself in the presence of witness was as follows: District 1. Al Kallman, 351; Sol M. Taplin, 576. District 2. Herbert R. Davis, 339; Phyllis Anne Gray, 347. District 5. John F. Beatty, 305: Chas Burt McKeehan, 299. Miss Gray and Mr. Taplin will serve for four (4) years and Mr. Beatty for two (2) years. Mr. Beatty, Miss Gray and Mr. Taplin were then sworn into office by the Village Clerk. Mr. Printup appointed Miss Gray to act as Temporary Chairman for the meeting. Miss Gray called for the nominations for the office of Mayor. It was moved by Mr. Krez, seconded by Mr. Taplin that Mr. Printup be appointe- Mayor. It was moved by Mr. Beatty, seconded by Mr. Krez and voted that a unanimous ballot be cast for Mr. Printup. Mr. Printup was sworn into office by the Village Clerk. Mayor Printup called for nominations for Assistant Mayor. It was moved by Mr. Taplin, seconded by Mr.Beatty that Miss Gray be appointed Assistant Mayor. It was moved by Mr. Krez, seconded by Mr. Printup that Mr. Taplin be appointed Assistant Mayor. Upon vote Mr. Taplin was appointed Assistant Mayor. Mr. Taplin was then sworn into office as Assistant Mayor. It was moved by Mr. Beatty, seconded by Mr. Taplin and voted that the regular meeting date of the Council would be the last Tuesday of each month at 9:30 A. M. and an alternate date of the second Tuesday of each month at 9:30 A. M. It was moved by Mr. Krez, seconded by Miss Gray $ht the meeting be adjourned. Mayor Attest: Village Clerk ��� Ly/(u... i(j?,
