HomeMy Public PortalAbout2018.07.11 GAC MinutesMcCall Golf Advisory Board Meeting Minutes for July 2018; 4:00pm Roll Call: Present were Eric McCormick, Paul Stover, Ken Stearns, Allan Morrison, Rita Bolli, Kristin Christensen; absent were Lynne Edwards - Swanson and Michael Hayes. Approval of June 2018 minutes: Ken recommended approval of the minutes and Paul seconded the motion and this passed. He is trying to get control of the thistles and has the help of a volunteer and the city. Volunteers have painted the yardage markers on cart paths and fairway markers today. Request has been received from Ann DeBoard to put up a plaque in her husband Bob's memory on the large rock in the fairway that they live adjacent to. There was a discussion and all agreed to honor this. Green's will be top -dressed soon and next week verticut before the Amateur tournament. Allan's report: Rounds of golf numbers and full pass sales are significantly up from last year to date. Junior clinic, Smoke Jumper tourney, Senior Woman's, Senior Men's Match and the Hawkins Tournaments were all successful. The Amateur tournaments are coming up this month. Rita composed a letter to be sent to Mark Johnson about the Amateur encouraging him to advertise the course. Several corporate groups have scheduled tournaments in July. There are still more openings in the 2 lady BB coming up Aug 5-6. The Men and Ladies' club championship are scheduled together on Aug 18-19. The online tee time scheduler is now working. There was discussion about the groups of 5 players holding up the course play and Allan stated that it was city policy to let that occur. Monthly topic: Rules and Regulations —a copy was reviewed and a discussion about service dogs ensued. This was tabled for next week when we get a definition. The rules now state that pets are not allowed on the golf course. There have been complaints about players bringing their dog and then having it run along side the cart and not picking up their "deposits". There was also discussion about the item that states no child under 5 can play golf as we have lessons for children under that age. Old Business: It was previously suggested to have a camera on the Cedar 9 holes to avoid people using it without tee times. At this point the technology that is affordable is not known but we will keep this in mind and ask some tech people for advice. LOT applications included a bathroom on the course, but this was tabled for 1 year. Rebuilding of Aspen #6 green, winter covers for the greens, and several capital items are still on the list. New Business: Allan proposed a new tournament Sept 15-16 called a 1- person scramble for men and women and it was agreed to have this tournament added to the schedule. There is a problem with "no show" tee times and a discussion ensued to try to help the problem including asking people to call early if they are going to cancel._ Adjournment: 5:15pm Next meeting is August 8, 2018 Rita Bolli, GCAC Chair Eric McCormick, Golf Course Director
