RESOLUTION NO. 09-791 9
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO INCREASE THE LIMITS OF THE
CITY'S HARDSHIP ASSISTANCE PROGRAM TO TWO
HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00)
WHEREAS, on or about May 1, 2002, the City of Opa-locka ("City") implemented a
Hardship Assistance Program to assist residents who had been negatively impacted by the City's
increase in water and sewer rates; and
WHEREAS,the goal of the program is to assist eligible low-income residential households
experiencing hardship and difficulty in paying their utility bill; and
WHEREAS, under the current plan, approved applicants of the program are entitled to
receive a one-time annual allowance/adjustment of up to One Hundred Dollars($100.00)to pay for
a total month's utility bill; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Kelley has proposed that the City increase the allowance/adjustment
provided by the City under the program to $200.00; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka("City Commission")desires to
support an increase in the limits of the City's Hardship Assistance Program.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby authorizes the City
Manager to increase the annual allowance/adjustment for approved applicants under the City's
Hardship Assistance Program to up to Two Hundred Dollars($200.00)for a total month's utility bill.

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
