Kelley RESOLUTION NO. 09-7925 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA,GRANTING APPROVAL FOR A "STOP THE VIOLENCE" ROADSIDE MARKER IN COMMEMORATION OF RICHARD FELIPE, A FORMER RESIDENT OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, WHO WAS SHOT AND KILLED ON MAY 3, 2008, ON OR ABOUT THE ADDRESS OF 120 DUNAD AVENUE WHEREAS, on May 3, 2008, Richard Felipe, a former resident of the City of Opa-locka ("City"), was shot and killed on or about the address of 120 Dunad Avenue in the City; and WHEREAS,on September 9,2009,Carmen Felipe,the mother of Richard Felipe,requested that the City approve a roadside marker in her son's memory,urging residents to stop the violence in the City; and WHEREAS,the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka("City Commission")desires to grant approval for a roadside marker to be erected in memory of Richard Felipe. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby grants approval for a "Stop the Violence" roadside marker to be erected in commemoration of former resident, Richard Felipe, who was shot and killed on May 3, 2008, on or about the address of 120 Dunad Avenue within the City of Opa-locka. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby directed to work with Carmen Felipe and other governmental bodies to ensure that the roadside marker meets the requirements of the City's code, and is further authorized to take all necessary and expedient action to effectuate the intent of this Resolution No. 0 9—7 9 2 5 Resolution. .Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 23 day of SEPTFMRFR , 2009. aim .
