Councilmember j,%,pmpintroduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION NO. 74'.;
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE PROGRAMMING AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE ELM CREEK INTERCEPTOR
WHEREAS, the Elm Creek interceptor will serve portions of the cities of
Brooklyn Park, Maple Grove, Plymouth, Medina, and Corcoran; and
WHEREAS, the City of Medina has currently used up most of its available
capacity within these lines; and
WHEREAS, the City of Medina anticipates the need to request expansion of the
Metropolitan Urban Service Area boundary or more capacity; and
WHEREAS, the City of Medina has expected the extension of the Elm Creek
interceptor; and
WHEREAS, portions of the City of Medina within the current Metropolitan Urban
Service Area will be permanently served by the Elm Creek interceptor; and
WHEREAS, it has come to the City's attention that the Metropolitan Council and
the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission have commissioned a study to upgrade the
Plymouth lift station and forcemain; and
WHEREAS, the northeast portion of the City of Plymouth along with the other
areas within the City of Plymouth which lie within the Elm Creek drainage basin are
envisioned to drain into the Elm Creek interceptor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina,
Minnesota:
1. The Metropolitan Council and the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission
are hereby requested to program the extension and construction of the
Elm Creek interceptor so that it is available for service in or shortly
after 1990.
2, The Metropolitan Council and the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission are
requested to maintain the intergrity of the Elm Creek interceptor basin
by providing service to the northeastern portion of the City of Plymouth
through the Elm Creek interceptor
