MONDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2011
IN ATTENDANCE:
DOROTHY MARUSKA, KIM HESSE, LINDA KATZ, SUE HADLEY, JEAN VAZZA, KEN
JOHNSON, CHERYL PERREAULT, PHIL POWERS
JEAN VAZZA:
Jean gave an update on Youth Services including discussion on her program held at the Library
recently. She continues to have problems with attendance but is working on alternative ways to get the word out. She feels the people who do attend learn from her discussion. There is another discussion on December 19 on Teen Dating Violence.
SUE HADLEY: Sue noted that there are many events happening in the coming months for beFREE. There will be
a coffee house in January and she continues to work with kids on a weekly basis with a goal of
having activities about every 6 weeks. Attendance continues to be good and different groups of
kids are attending.
PHIL POWERS:
Phil spoke about the new marijuana by law that has recently been added to the town. Work
continues on being sure all parents and youth know the law.
KIM HARVEY: Kim is working on trying to find a new building for kids in town. There was some discussion to
whether this was actually what kids wanted – in deference to what parents thought kids wanted.
Kim is going to try and find space and then we will present it to the youth.
KEN JOHNSON: Ken has been working with the skate park club for new improvements like having water at the
sight and picnic tables. Helmets continue to be a problem and so he is working to find a someone
to help purchase more. $2,500 has been received from the HAA from money received from the
Marathon fund.
