NOVEMBER 20.2018
The City Council of Medina, Minnesota met in special session on November 20, 2018 at
6:00 p.m. at the Medina City Hall, 2052 County Road 24, Medina, MN.
I. Call to Order
Members present: Martin, Anderson, Cousineau, DesLauriers
Members absent: Pederson
Also present: City Administrator Scott Johnson, Public Works Director Steve
Scherer, City Engineer Jim Stremel, Public Safety Director Ed Belland, City Planning
Director Dusty Finke, and Bolton & Menk Engineer Dan Lonnes
II. Brockton Lane Project Discussion
Engineer Dan Lonnes from Bolton & Menk provided background information on the
proposed project to urbanize Brockton Lane. Council discussed the pedestrian crossing
by Hamel Legion Park, other possible pedestrian crossings, parking spots on the proposed
street, reduced speed limits, the proposed all -way stop at the Brockton Lane/Hamel Road
intersection, and having Plymouth pay 100% of the trail extension costs for the project.
Mr. Lonnes discussed the future project open house on Dec. 5th, process steps for the
429 -bonding process, and informed Council that the estimated project costs will be
brought forward in December.
III. Celebration Day Funding Discussion
Staff was directed to allocate $30,000 to the Park Replacement Fund and $35,000 to the
Celebration Fund from the conduit bond fee.
Staff was further directed to continue to request funds for the fireworks display at
Celebration Day.
