RESOLUTION NO. 09-7931
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE AWARD OF GRANT FUNDS
FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FY 2009
EDWARD J. BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE
GRANT (JAG) IN THE AMOUNT OF FORTY FIVE
THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FIVE
DOLLARS ($45,375.00) FOR THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA
POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Opa-locka ("City") is committed to finding external sources of
funding from county, state and federal grants; and
WHEREAS, the City applied for grant funds from the Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice
Assistance Grant (JAG); and
WHEREAS, on September 10, 2009, the City received notification that it had been
awarded grant funds from the FY 09 Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG)
in the amount of Forty Five Thousand Three Hundred and Seventy Five Dollars ($45,375.00);
and
WHEREAS, the City Manager is requesting authorization to accept the awarded JAG
funds for the FY 09 Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble are hereby incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby authorizes the City
Manager to accept the award of grant funds from the FY 09 Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice
Resolution No. 09-7q31
Assistance Grant (JAG) award in the amount of Forty Five Thousand Three Hundred and
Seventy Five Dollars ($45,375.00).
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 23 day of SEPTEMBER, 2009.

RE: Acceptance and Authorization of Department of Justice Grant Awards
Request: STAFF IS REQUESTING THAT THE CITY COMMISSION OF OPA-
LOCKA AUTHORIZES THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF
JUSTICE EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT
PROGRAM: LOCAL SOLICITATION FOR THE AMOUNT OF FORTY-
FIVE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-FIVE DOLLARS
($45,375).
Description: The JAG funds will be use to purchase and install six 5.4 GHz Access points, six 5.4 GHz
OFDM subscriber modules, six access network PTZ cameras, and six outdoor enclosure
presses which will enhance the police department's wireless surveillance network so as to
achieve the public safety mandate that will contribute greatly to their efficiency and
effectiveness while emphasizing safety and security of the men and women who provide law
enforcement services.
Financial Impact: No Fiscal Impact. One hundred percent of the proceeds are grant dollars.
