A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO MAKE PAYMENT OF THIRTY SEVEN
THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED SIXTY ONE DOLLARS AND
TWELVE CENTS ($37,961.12) TO MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
FOR THE PURCHASE OF TEN(10)M7100 POLICE RADIOS,
PAYABLE FROM ACCOUNT NO. 21-521645
WHEREAS,the City of Opa-locka("City")Police Department has increased the number of
fleet vehicles by ten (10), with the purchase of eight (8) Dodge Chargers and two (2) motorcycle
units; and
WHEREAS,the City's Police Department utilizes Miami-Dade County's radio system for
all radio dispatch communications; and
WHEREAS, all police vehicles must be outfitted with police radio communications
equipment; and
WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County is a sole source provider of the M7100 police radios for
the City as the county is the only entity capable of programming the radios with the county radio
frequency; and
WHEREAS,the City Manager is recommending that the City utilize the quote provided by
Miami-Dade County for the purchase of M7100 radios as the County is a sole source provider of the
needed equipment; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka desires to accept the quote from
Miami-Dade County for the purchase of M7100 police radios for the City's Police Department.

NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby accepts the quote from
Miami-Dade County as a sole source provider for police radio communications equipment and
further authorizes the City Manager to make payment of Thirty Seven Thousand Nine Hundred Sixty
One Dollars and Twelve Cents ($37,961.12) to Miami-Dade County for the purchase of M7100
police radios for the City's Police Department, payable from Account No. 21-521645.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.

Description: The Police Department has increased the police vehicle fleet with the addition of 8
Dodge Chargers and two Harley Davidson motorcycles units. All vehicles must be outfitted with
police radio equipment from the sole source of Miami Dade County. The county is the sole
source provider for the M7100 police radios since the county is the only entity capable of
programming the radios with the county radio frequency. The City of Opa-locka police
department utilizes Miami Dade County radio system for all dispatch radio communications.
Financial Impact: Not Budgeted, $37,961.12
