Johnson RESOLUTION NO. 09-7 9 5 0 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXPEND FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00) FOR CITY CLERK PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES CONNECTED WITH THE 2010 CENSUS, PAYABLE FROM ACCOUNT NO. 19-519480 WHEREAS,the next decennial census will be taken in the year 2010, and WHEREAS, political representation to the United States House of Representatives, the state legislature and local government is determined by the decennial census count and the City of Opa-locka ("City") recognizes the importance of each city resident being counted for the 2010 Census; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka ("City Commission") also recognizes the importance of creating awareness for City residents concerning the 2010 Census and desires to promote vast participation; and WHEREAS, the City Commission directs the City Clerk to promote awareness and participation in the 2010 Census among residents of the City and the community-at-large through posters, fly-outs, mailings and similar promotional activities designed to educate residents regarding the 2010 decennial census. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble are hereby incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby authorizes the City Manager to expend funds in an amount not to exceed Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) in Resolution No. 0 9-7 9 5 0 support of the City Clerk's promotional activities for the 2010 census, including but not limited to posters, fly-outs, mailings and similar promotional activities, payable from Account No. 19- 519480.
