Home My Public Portal About09-7957 Sanders Company Inc Sponsored by: City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 0 9-7 9 5 7 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE PARTS FROM SANDERS COMPANY, INC. FOR EMERGENCY REPAIRS TO THE CITY'S PUMP STATION NO. 5 IN THE AMOUNT OF SIX THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE DOLLARS ($6,665.00), PAYABLE FROM ACCOUNT NO. 35-535202 WHEREAS, Pump Station No. 5 is an essential component for providing sewer and wastewater service to residents within Service Area 5 of the City of Opa-locka("City"); and WHEREAS, Pump Station No. 5 is currently operating on an emergency bypass system and is in need of immediate emergency repair; and WHEREAS, the City is obligated to follow the requirements of the Department of Environmental and Resources Management (DERM) and maintain a proper functioning sewer pump station; and WHEREAS, the replacement parts required to repair the pump station are manufactured only by Smith and Loveless, which is a sole source for such items; and WHEREAS, the local authorized Smith and Loveless vendor, Sanders Company, Inc., has provided a quote for the required parts; and WHEREAS, the City Manager is recommending that the City utilize the quote provided by the local authorized Smith and Loveless vendor, Sanders Company, Inc., as they are a sole source for the necessary items; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka desires to accept the quote from Sanders Company, Inc. for the required replacement parts for Pump Station No. 5. Resolution No. 0 9-7 9 5 7 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby accepts the quote from Sanders Company, Inc. as a sole source for the items required by the City, and further authorizes the City Manager to make payment in the amount of Six Thousand Six Hundred and Sixty Five Dollars ($6,665.00) to Sanders Company, Inc., for replacement parts for Pump Station No. 5., payable from Account No. 35-535202. .Section 3. Description: The pump station located on 2331 NW 135th St, serves a critical area of our city. The station manufactured by Smith and Loveless is aged and requires parts to keep it functioning. The station is currently on a temporary bypass system requiring daily monitoring. The purchase of the parts will allow for repair to the station to comply with City and DERM requirements. Financial Impact: The anticipated cost for the parts is an amount of Six Thousand, Six Hundred and Sixty Five Dollars ($6,650.00). Implementation Time Line: Two(2) weeks from approval of this item. Recommendation(s): Staff recommends approval. Analysis: The Sanders Company Inc. as the sole source providers of Smith and Loveless Co. in the state of Florida are aptly suited to supply the required parts for this station. As the original manufacturer of this station Smith and Loveless retains part inventory for type specific stations. On this basis it is recommended that the parts are procured from The Sanders Company Inc..
