To Roland W. Bassett, Constable of the Town of Brewster
Greetings:
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are
hereby directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of Brewster
qualified to vote in Town affairs to meet at the Brewster Elem-
entary School on Monday, July 10, 1972 at 7:30 P. M., then and
there to act upon the following articles:
ARTICLE 1 . To see if the Town will vote to raise and app-
ropriate, or transfer from unappropriated funds in the treasury,
a sum of money for Chapter 90, highways.
ARTICLE 2. To hear the report of any special committee.
ARTICLE 3. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the
LaSallette Study Committee to continue its investigation for possible
uses and to further negotiations with the owners of the LaSallette
property.
ARTICLE 4. To see if the Town will vote to raise and app-
ropriate the sum of eight hundred ($500.00) dollars to install two
catch basins near southeast corner of the highway department garage.
ARTICLE 5. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the
Selectmen to purchase an area of land of 35.3 acres adjacent to the
present Town Disposal Area and consisting of parcels 35-5, 35-5
and 35-56 as shown on the Brewster Assessors Maps and raise and app-
ropriate the sum of one hundred seventeen thousand ($117,000.00)
dollars,, and to determine whether such appropriation shall be raised
by taxation, by the transfer of available funds, or by borrowing or
otherwise.
ARTICLE 6. To see if the Town will vote an expression of
opinion in the form of a resolution regarding Architectural Advisory
Committee as follows:
1 . whereas, the Town of Brewster has now.�reachect a period of
rapid growth and expansion and
2. whereas, the economic health, prosperity, and welfare of
the Town will be dependent upon well-designed, efficient
and attractive business areas and
3. Whereas, the present business and commercial areas of the
Town will be sources of local employment, capital invest-
ment, and tax revenue and
4.. Whereas, there is an inherent danger to the Town from
poorly designed, inefficient, and unattractive business
and commercial areas.
Therefore, be it resolved that an Architectural Advisory
Committee be created by the Board of Selectmen to assist
the growth of the business and commercial areas with archi-
tectural treatment of buildings of a commercial nature only,
including multi-family dwellings, in order to insure the
future attractiveness and economic stability of all of the
business areas of Brewster.
ARTICLE 7. To see if the Town of Brewster will vote to raise
and appropriate or take from available funds the sum of one thousand
($1 ,000.00) dollars as provided in Massachusetts General Laws, Chanter
40, Section 5, Clause 59, to help defray expenses in providing facili-
ties for the training, rehabilitation, and employment of physically
and mentally handicapped residents of the Town of Brewster employed as
workers at the Nauset Workshop, Inc., or to do anything in relation
thereto.
ARTICLE 8. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the
Selectmen to lay out Govenor Bradford Road, providing that all re-
quirements of the Town by-law governing acceptance of private roads
by the Town are met. (By petition)
ARTICLE 9. To see if the Town will vote to raise and app-
ropriate the sum of twenty three hundred ($2,300.00) dollars to
purchase new radio equipment for the police department.
ARTICLE 10. To see if the Town will vote to raise and app-
ropriate the sum of one thousand ($1 ,000.00) dollars to increase "
the legal expense account.
ARTICLE 11 . To see if the Town will vote to raise and app-
ropriate a sum of money to increase the Reserve Fund Account.
ARTICLE 12. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the
Selectmen to contract for engineering plans and specifications of
Great Fields Road,'and raise and appropriate the sum of fifty five
hundred ($5,500.00) dollars.
ARTICLE 13. To see if the Town will vote to raise and app-
ropriate the sum of fifty thousand ($50,000.00) dollars to completely
renovate and restorerthe exterior of the Town Hall.
ARTICLE 14. .D see if the Town will vote to raise and app-
ropriate the sum of twenty thousand four hundred ($20,400.00) dollars
to cover the exterior of the Town hall with vinyl siding, to install
aluminum storm windows downstairs and the reclacement of gutters and
downspouts.
ARTICLE 15. To act upon any other business that may legally
come before this meeting.
And you are directed to serve this Warrant with your doings
thereon to the Town Clerk at the time and place of said meeting as
aforesaid.
