the Brewster School auditorium at 7:30 p.m. , January 22, 1973.
The meeting was called to order by the Moderator, Grant W. Kech.
A quorum was declared to be present. Mr. Koch asked for a moment of
silence for Former President Lyndon B. Johnson who passedVt is day.
Tellers were Paul C. Sylver, Dorothy Grenier and Doris Powell.
The voters were checked in by the Registrars, Dorothea Dugan and Jean G
Gage. 322 voters were checked in.
The return of the Warrant was read by the Town Clerk, Donald P.
Consodine, with the exception of the articles, which were read as
they were considered for action.
ARTICLE 1. To see if the Town will vote to establish, under the
provisions of General laws, Chapter 40, Section $d, an historical
commission of the Town of Brewster for the purposes ant with the
ridts and duties provided by law, to be composed of rive (5) mem-
bers, appointed by the Selectmen for terms of three years, except that
the initial appointment shall be one (1) member for one year, two
(2) members for two years and two (2) members for three years.
VOTED unanimously that the Tann establish, under the provisions
of General laws, Chapter 40, Section 8d, an historical• Commission
of the Town of Brewster for the purposes and with the rights and
duties provided by the law, to be composed of five (5)-- members,
appointed by the Selectmen-. for teras of three years except that
the initial appointment shall be one (1) member for one year, two
(2) members for two years and two (2) members for three= years.
ARTICIE 2. To see if the Town will vote to amend the zoning
by-law as follows: Section III A, Division into Districts, and
Section V, Use Regulations, Table 1, add new district, to be known
as Muniaip&I Refuse l-_:trict (TINRD) , the location and boundaries of
which are shown on a map titled "Zoning Map of Brewster, 1�7ass. ,
Metcalf & Eddy, January 1970' and on file with the Town. Clerk, said
District to be used soley for a refuse facility. Also delete-the
following: Section V, Use Regulations, Community Facilities, para-
graph 12, delete the words "refuse facility" and take any action
relative thereto!
VOTED yes 234 :no"63 that the Town amend the zoning by-law as
follows: Section ill A, Division into Districts and Section V.
Use Regulations, Table 1, add new district, to be known as
Municipal Refuse District (IRD) , the location and boundaries of
which are shown on a map titled "Zoning Ma.p of Brewster, MAss.,
Metcalf & Eddy, January 1970" and on file with the Town Clerk, said
District to be used coley for a refuse facility. Also delete the
following: Bection V, Use Regulations, Community Facilities, para-
graph 12, delete the words "refuse facility" .
ARTICLE 3, to see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate
Four Hundred Seventy live Thousand ($475,000.00) Dollars for the
purpose of constructing a fire andpolice station on land owned by
the Town adjacent to the Town Hall, and to determine whether any
such appropriation shall be raised by taxation, by transfer from
available funds, by borrowing or otherwise.
A POTION to indefinitely postpone this article was defeated by
voice vote.
VOTED by ballot vote yes 236, no 66 that the sum of Four Hundred.
Seventy Five Thousand Q47590000 Dollars be hereby appropriated far
the purpose of constructing and originally equipping a Fire and
?police Station on land owned by the Town adjacent to the Town Hall --
and that to meet such alpropriatior_, the sum of Fifteen Thousand
($15,000) Dollars shall be transferred from available revenue funds
received under Federal Revenue Sharing and the Treasurer with the
approval of the Selectmen be hereby authorized to borrow the sum
of Four Hundred Sixty Thousand ($4602 000. )°Dollars at one time or
from time to time under and pursuant to Chapter 44, Section 7(3)
of the General laws as amended and supplemented and to issue notes
or bonds of the Town therefor.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at
9:30 P.r.
