RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A
PUBLIC HEARING ON THE EXPANSION
OF DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT NO. 1
AND THE REDUCTION IN SIZE OF
TIF DISTRICT NO. 1-1
WHEREAS, the City established Development District No. 1 pursuant to
Minn. Stat., Chapter 472A and TIF District No. 1-1 pursuant to Minn. Stat.,
Sections 273.71 through 273.78 on January 29, 1985; and
WHEREAS, the original assessed value of property within TIF District No.
1-1 was certified to the City by the Hennepin county auditor on May 14, 1985;
and
WHEREAS, the City desires to expand the boundaries of Development
District No. 1 to include additional properties on which it wishes to
encourage commercial and industrial development; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to reduce the size of TIF District No. 1-1 to
eliminate from the District certain property which has not developed and which
is unlikely to develop in the near future.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina,
Minnesota, as follows:
1. Ehlers and Associates, Inc. is hereby authorized to prepare a modifica-
tion to the Program for Development District No. 1 to expand the
boundaries thereof generally easterly along T.H. 55 from the current
boundary of the Development District to the eastern border of the City
and to prepare a modification to the Plan for TIF District No. 1-1 to
eliminate property generally in the southerly one-half of the TIF
District.
2. A public hearing before the city council is hereby set for %: 5P.m. on
April 21, 1987, to consider the modified Program and Plan.
3. The clerk -treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to cause notice of
said hearing to be published at least once in the newspaper at least 10
but not more than 30 days prior to said hearing.
4. A copy of the proposed modified Program and Plan shall be kept on file in
the office of the clerk -treasurer and shall be available for public
inspection during regular business hours.
5. A copy of the proposed modified Program and Plan shall be mailed to
Hennepin county and affected school districts inviting comment thereon
and notified them of the public hearing.
6. City staff and consultants are hereby authorized and directed to take any
and all other actions reasonably necessary to prepare the modified
Program and Plan for presentation to the city council at the public
hearing.
