SPECIAL COLINCIL MEETING
KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 201 8

l. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS: The meeting was called to order
by the Mayor at 6:00 p.m. Present were Councilmembers Luis Lauredo, Edward London, Brett
G. Moss, Kathleen Petros, Ignacio Segurola, Vice Mayor Allison McCormick and Mayor
Michael W. Davey. Also present were Village Manager Andrea Agha, Village Clerk Jennifer
Medina and Village Attomeys Stephen J. Helfman and Chad Friedman.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Mayor led the Pledge of Allegiance.
At this time the Mayor addressed the public regarding the purpose of the Special Council
Meeting which is to hire Special Legal Counsel for the Ultra Music Festival taking place at
Virginia Key.
3. PUBLIC COMMENTS: There were no speakers present
4. DISCUSSION REGARDING THE ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL: The Manager and
the Clerk addressed the Council regarding recommended legal firms provided by the Council.
There was extensive discussion by Council regarding general Village in-house legal services.
It was the consensus of Council to add a discussion item at the December 4, 2018 Regular
Council Meeting regarding in-house legal services.
There was extensive discussion by Council regarding the Village's participation at the City of
Miami Commission meeting on November 15, 2018.
Councilmember London made a motion to appoint Councilmember Segurola to interview the
November 16, 2018
candidates for Special Legal Counsel specifically for the Ultra Music Festival and provide a
recommendation to Council at the December 4,2018 Regular Council Meeting. The motion was
seconded by Councilmember Moss and approved by a 7-0 voice vote. The vote was as follows:
Councilmembers Luis Lauredo, Edward London, Brett G. Moss, Kathleen Petros, Ignacio
Segurola, Vice Mayor Allison McCormick and Mayor Michael'W. Davey voting Yes.
5. ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 6:17 p.m.
