AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING COMMERCIAL AND RETAIL PROPERTIES
TO MAINTAIN OPERATING EXTERIOR LIGHTING DURING CERTAIN
PERIODS .
BE IT ORDAIJ\'ED by the Mayor and Borough Council ofthe Borough of
Carteret in furtherance of promoting the public health, safety and welfare as follows:
Section 1
All Commercial ap.d Retail busLness establishments within the
Borough shall maintain and utilize (keep lit) their exterior lighting
fixtures every evening from dusk until dawn. Any violation of the
provisions of this ordinance shall be punishable in accordance with
the then existing penalty provisions of ~ 1-17 ofthis Code.
Section 4
All ordinances or parts thereof incon1!istent with the provision of
this ordinance are hereby repealed limited to the extent of any
such inconsistency.
Section 5
If any section, paragraph, sub~division, clause or provision ofthis
ordinance is adjudged invalid, such adjudication shall apply only
to the section, paragraph, sub~division, clause or provision so
adjudged and the remainder of this ordinance shall be deemed
valid and effective.
Section 6
This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publication
according to applicable law. . .
