We had an emergency preparedness drill last week on Tuesday and it went very well. We will be doing this
on a quarterly basis. We will be debriefing, having a contest where everyone brings in their kit.
Our Easter program was held last Friday. We had 40 in attendance. It was a very nice event, Pearline Molett
was our mistress of ceremony. I wanted to thank her for emceeing the program. I want to thank the Golden
Voices for participating with our basket donations.
Dial-A-Taxi Presentation:
Perry Brents - As of April 1, 2010 we changed our Dial-A-Taxi vendor. Our vendor now is Futura Taxi.
This is not a complaint session because they have 90-days to correct anything right now. If you have
complaints you need to log your complaints and leave them in the suggestion box outside in the lobby. One
of the noticeable differences in the service of the Dial-A-Taxi program is that we only have four satellite
points. The importance is not the location that we go to but finding out who we service. By knowing what
the needs are we will know if these locations are good enough. That's what you have to tell us. Hopefully
you have noticed that there is no difference between the two companies. There are vehicles that will take
special needs and handicapped as well as vehicles that will take you to the Senior Center for lunch and there
is no difference; when you call, you get picked up.
These are the new differences in Dial-A-Taxi from last time. Now we have four locations instead of ten. We
are increasing the fare so that the in-town ride is only fifty-cents and the out-of-town ride is one dollar. The
reason for the increase is that the out-of-town trip costs more money. Today it's time to register for Dial-A-
Taxi; everyone will not qualify. We are now taking away your old ID and giving you a new one. The age
will increase to sixty-five beginning July 1, 2010; we will be enforcing the new age limit. The priority for
the Dial-A-Taxi; program is for people who do not have transportation. We put an expiration date on the
coupons. They are good for 60-days so you don't lose money, if you lose money it's because you didn't use
the coupons. We will not be able to sustain this program if we get more people who don't really need it. In
order for us to keep the program we need to have people who truly need the program. If the taxi arrives later
than 20-minutes, the trip is free. If you can take a cab to anywhere else, you should be able to take a cab to
pickup your coupons. Participants requesting wheelchair vehicle are encouraged to place their order 24-
hours in advance and that way you will get service on time. You can schedule weeks or months in advance.
Public Orals:
Ofelia Sanders - We will be going to Laughlin on June 29, 2010 - July 1, 2010 two-night stay at the
Edgewater Hotel, Fee: $85.00 based on double occupancy.
Board Orals:
Paulette Bradley - If you have not filled out your Census form it is imperative that you do so. If you have
questions about the Census form please come forward. We have information to help you fill it out. The food
program will be held at the Lynwood Community Center this month.
Barbara Battle - I would just like to thank you very much for your support through my term as Vice Chair. I
would like to congratulate our new Chair and Vice Chair.
Pau(ette Bradley - We had the reorganization of our Senior Advisory Council. Lorene Reed is the Chair and
the Vice Chair is Pamela Taylor. So please give them your support.
Adjournment: Member D. Joyce Edner made a motion to adjourn, 2°d by Member Barbara Battle. By
unanimous consent the meeting adjourned at 1:01 p.m.
