WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka desires the City Manager to enter into an agreement to purchase 21 MA/COM P7100 Police Radios; and WHEREAS, the City of Opa-locka was awarded the Department of Justice Recovery Act Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistant Grant,total amount of 186,713.00,of which$77,088.00 was budgeted specifically for purchase of police radios: NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka authorizes the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Miami-Dade County Enterprise Technology Services Department (ETSD) for the purchase of 21 MA/COM P7100 police radios in the amount of Seventy Six Thousand Two Hundred and Nine Dollars ($76,209.00). Description: The City of Opa-locka was awarded The Department of Justice Recovery Act Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG). The complete amount of the awarded grant totals $186,713.00. From the total amount $77,088.00 was budgeted specifically for the purchase of police radios. The Opa-locka Police Department has increased its force over the past year and needs to add more police radios to its inventory. The police radios are essential tools that are required by each police officer in order to effectively communicate and ensure officer safety. Financial Impact: No fiscal impact, one hundred percent of the proceeds are Grant dollars. Implementation Time Line: 30-60 days from time of purchase Legislative History: The City of Opa-locka Commission approved resolution #09-7932 accepting the award of the The Department of Justice Recovery Act Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant(JAG) on September 23, 2009. Recommendation(s): Staff recommends the accepting the quote from Miami-Dade County Enterprise Technology Services Department (ETSD). Analysis: Miami-Dade County ETSD was selected as the vendor for the police radios because they are the sole source provider for programmed MA/COM P7100 police radios that operate on the Miami-Dade County EDACS police radio system.
