HomeMy Public PortalAbout1979-10-15 Special MeetingMr. Maley explained that during a recent power failure Florida Power and Light Company replaced the cable from the vault across Bal Bay Drive to the Village Hall. He said the Power Company is willing to charge only for labor if the Village will grant them an easement from the Village Hall to the vault. It was moved by Mr. Kres, seconded by Miss Gray and voted that Florida Power and Light Company be granted the requested easement. On motion of Miss Gray, seconded by Mr. Beatty and voted the meeting was adjourned at 6:10 P.M. Attest: Village Clerk Mayor October 2, 1979 COUNCIL MINUTES October 15, 1979 A Special Meeting of the Council was held in conjunction with Bay Harbor Islands in the Bay Harbor Islands Council Chambers at 7:30 P.M., Monday October 15, 1979, to finalize the Contract between Towns, Dade County Water & Sewer Authority, and the City of Miami Beach. Present: Messrs. Beatty, KRE2, Printup and Miss Gray Absent: Mr. Taplin Also present were Fred Maley, Village Manager, Mary Wetterer, Village Clerk, and Alan Gold, Village Attorney. Present from Bay Harbor Islands were: Messrs, Gardner, Goldsmith, Nelson, Rauch and Shapiro Mr. Horwotz and Mr. Gold explained the terms of the settlement outlined in the Contract which provides that the Water and Sewer Authority will build a 24" main from the 75th Street pump house to Bal Harbour to serve the towns until a 30" main is built across the Broad Causeway, which is to be in service by June 24, 1987; until the 24" line is in operation the Towns will pay 140% of the rate per thousand gallons charged Miami Beach by the Authority; and Bal Harbour and Bay Harbor Islands will pay Miami Beach $355,209.00 from existing escrow funds for water used since October 1, 1972. Mr. Warren Silverman, CPA, advised that the rate structure was fair and the contract guarantees rates, supply and finally when the line is built we will be serviced by the Authority. Mr. Peterson and Mr. Martin, engineers for Bay Harbor and Bal Harbour respectively discussed the routing of the lines and water flow. Mr. King of the Water and Sewer Authority discussed the possibility of the Town of Surfside being served by the new line at some future date. After ratification of the proposed Contract by the council of Bay Harbor Islands on motion of Miss Gray, seconded by Mr. Beatty and voted the Contract was ratified by Bal Harbour. The neeting was adjourned at 8:40 P.M. Attest: Village Clerk Mayor October 15, 1979 COUNCIL MINUTES October 30, 1979 The council of Bal Harbour Village met Tuesday, October 30, 1979, at 9:30 A. M. in the Village Hall. Present: Messrs Beatty, Krez, Printup and Taplin Absent: Miss Gray Also present were Fred W. Maley, Village Manager, Mary T. Wetterer, Village Clerk; and Alan S. Gold, Village Attorney. On motion of Mr. Krez, seconded by Mr. Taplin, and voted the minutes of meetings and public hearings of September 24, September 25, September 27, October 2, and October 15, 1979 were approved as submitted. Mr. Maley reported that we had readvertized for bids for the village hall addition. Mr. Maley and Mr. Knight, architect, opened the bids which were as follows: C. A. Davis, $186,000; Kennedy and Sons, $174,500, MET Construction, $197,887. These were the same three contractors that had bid the job on September 21, 1979. (Mr. Beatty arrived at 9:40 A.M.)
