HomeMy Public PortalAbout1120.5 - Public Works - Wastewater Division - Organization and PolicyPublic Works Department Wastewater Division Section 1120.5 Policies and Procedures Manual Page 1 1120.5 SUBJECT: ORGANIZATION AND POLICY :1 OBJECTIVE: Operate and maintain City sanitary sewage treatment plants, reclaimed water systems, lift stations and collection lines. :2 AUTHORITY: This procedure amended by City Council September 15, 2003. :3 DIRECTION: Division Manager, as an appointed official, serves at the pleasure of the Mayor, and receives direction through the Environmental Services Division Director. :4 FUNCTIONS: 1. Budgets for, operates and maintains City wastewater treatment plants reclaimed water systems, lift stations and equipment. Constructs, repairs and cleans sanitary sewer lines. 2. Performs laboratory tests for treatment plant wastewater, industrial wastewater and the Stormwater Utility Division to determine compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations, and to aid in billing for high strength industrial waste discharges in accordance with Orlando City Code. 3 Assists in the training of waste treatment plant operators to meet requirements of the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation for certification. 4. Performs reporting duties concerned with Wastewater Division operations and in accordance with applicable law, rule or regulation. 5. Responsible for the implementation of the City’s Industrial Pretreatment Program. 6. Oversees the Wastewater Capital Improvements program to assure necessary infrastructure is available to meet the city’s growing needs. 7. Provides environmental assistance to other City Departments and aid in other related activities. :5 FORMS: None. :6 COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
