A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY
MANAGER TO MAKE FULL PAYMENT OF FIFTEEN
THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED NINE DOLLARS ($15,509.00)
FROM ACCOUNT 72-572630, TO MILAGROS FARM NURSERY
FOR GARDEN LANDSCAPING/MAINTENANCE SERVICES;
FOR REMOVAL AND TRANSPLANTATION OF TREES FROM
THE COMMUNITY GARDEN; FOR INSTALLATION OF
PLANTS, SOD AND MULCH TO THE COMMUNITY GARDEN;
PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka desires to beautify the
community by enhancing and increasing green space; and
WHEREAS, Milagros Farm Nursery is the vendor that rendered the
landscaping/maintenance services, planting trees, small plants, and installing sod and mulch at the
Community Garden at the corner of Sharazad Boulevard and Codadad Street; and
WHEREAS, the cost for the services to the Community Garden rendered by Milagros Farm
Nursery is $15, 509.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka authorizes the City Manager
to make full payment to Milagros Farm Nursery for Garden Landscaping and Maintenance at the
Community Garden at the corner of Sharazad Boulevard and Codadad Street in the amount of
$15,509.00, payable from Account 75-572630.

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.

RE: Resolution to authorize payment for landscaping and planting at the City's
new community garden.
Request: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
OPA-LOCKA , FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
MAKE FULL PAYMENT TO MILAGROS FARM NURSERY FOR
GARDEN LANDSCAPING & MAINTENANCE; FOR REMOVAL AND
TRANSPLANTATION OF TREES FROM THE COMMUNITY
GARDEN; FOR INSTALLATION OF PLANTS, SOD AND MULCH TO
THE COMMUNITY GARDEN.
Description: The City of Opa-locka has taken an active role to beautify the neighborhoods
by enhancing and increasing the green space. This role was exhibited in the
creation of the Community Garden at the corner of Sharazad Boulevard and
Codadad Street, which required among other things: planting trees, flowers,
small plants, and the installation of sod and mulch. To begin this task also
required the removal and transplantation of two trees that were to be
replaced with a different tree species in the community garden.
Financial Impact: The financial impact for maintenance of this property is approximately
$200.00 per month if performed by staff.
Implementation
Time Line: Payment should be immediately, upon approval of this resolution. The
vendor provided the services described before the Community/Butterfly
Garden Dedication on April 22, 2010.
Legislative History: Not applicable.
Recommendation(s): Staff recommends that the City Commission approve this resolution to
authorize payment to the vendor.
Analysis: The approval of this resolution will authorize the City Manager to pay
Milagros Farm Nursery for the services rendered to plant trees and small
plants and to install sod and mulch at the Community Garden at the corner
of Sharazad Boulevard and Codadad Street.
