SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL A-2994
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill A-2994; released by the Assembly Enviromuent and Solid
Waste Committee, amending CAO:55D-7, gives authorization of municipalities to require
the development of site plan and subdivision applications, to the maximum extent, to
.ensure fun utilization of potential solar energy for the property; and

WHEREAS, as such, A-2994, would state that municipalities that have adopted solar
energy requirements as a condition of site development approvals, accotding to an
established ordinance', would work with'the Board of Public Utilities tc:create objectives
and measures which are consistent with the solar energy requirements that would govern
'., the review of site plan and subdivision applications; and
WHEREAS, A-2994, explains that the objectives and measures would include sohir path
mapping of the site, and an indication of the site development orientations which would
maximize access to unobstructed sunlIght to maxjmize the potential for solar energy
utilization on the proI:erty; and

WHEREAS, the New Jersey League of Municipalities strongly supports A-2994 as
released and has requested that all of its members to go on record similarly supporting the
same.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, as fol1~)\vs:
1. That the Borough of Carteret hereby supports Assembly Bill A-2994
released by the Assembly Enviromuent and Solid Waste Connnittee.
2. That a copy oftthisResolution be forwarded to the New Jersey League of
Municipalities.
