SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL A-276
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill A-276 which is currently on the Assembly Floor for
consideration, concerns real property tax assessment appeals and would amend R.S.54:3-
21 to increase the assessed value of real property permitted for direct appeal to State Tax
Court to more than $1.25 million; and
\VHEREAS, as such, A-276, would increase the minimum amount of assessed real
property value necessary for a tax assessment appeal hearing that would take place
directly before the State Tax Court from more than $750,000 to more than $1,250,000;
and
WHEREAS, A-276 would state that the current amount of more than $750,000 has not
been increased since its establishment in 1979; and
WHEREAS, the New Jersey League of Municipalities strongly supports A-276 as
released and has requested that all ofits members to go on record similarly supporting the
same.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and COlillcil of the Borough
ofCarteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, as follows:
1. That the Borough of Carteret hereby supports Assembly Bill A-276 released by
the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey.
2. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the New Jersey League of
Municipalities.
