OPPOSING'ASSEMBLY BILL A-2923
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill A-2923, released by the Assembly State Government
Committee, would amend C.II A:4-1.1 and various provisions of Title IIA,' civil service,
regarding veterans' preference in employment with the State or political subdivisions that
ol1:ave adopted the provisions of that Title; and
WHEREAS, as such, A-2923 would exempt veterans, determined by the Adjutant
Geueral of the State:s Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs, fr.om 0'$15 fee that
must be required to be paid for open 'and competitive examinations, 'and also exempts
those veterans from any local residency requirement .established by a municipality,
county, or local government entity in 'cOIll1ection with ~n examination and ranking for
local employment; and

'VHEREAS, the'exemption in A-2923. is a direct contravention afRame Rule; and
WHEREAS, the NSlW Jersey League of Municipalities strougly opposes A-2923 as
released and has requested that all of its members to go on record similarly opposing the
same.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL YED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, as follows:
1. That the Borough of Carteret hereby opposes Assembly Bill A-2923 released
by the Assembly State Governmeut Committee.
2. That a copy of this Resolutiou be forwarded to th, New Jersey League of
Municipalities.
