There being no other business it was moved to adjourn sent -die motion carried. Mayor. April 1 1940. New Council met at 12:00 noon. All Elected councilmen present. Mayor Ross having been sworn, administered the oath of ofi'ice to Councilman, W Haack, H P Kruse, Neil Okones, H L Luwe and Geo Lindaman. Mayor Ross pr sented his Bond and same was approved. It was moved by Luwe second by Okones that G H Geerdes be elected Town Clerk for the following two years; On vote of the Council,G H Geerdes was elected. Town Clerk. by ballot, receiving all. the votes, cast for Town Clerk. It was moved by Lindaman that the salary of Marshall, Street Commissioner, Water Pumper, Sewer c ze taker,be placed at a combined salary of not more than S100.00 per month,. Motion carried. It was moved. that the above salary be paid equally out of the General Fund and the Waterwvrks funds. Motion carried. Mayor Ross appointed the following committees, Finance Kruse- Haack- Lindaman Waterworks Okones -Kruse-Haack Ordinance Kruse-Okones - Lindaman Str. & Al eys Lindaman-Kruse-Luwe Sewers Haack- Luwe-Lindaman Purchasing Okones-Luwe-Haack Fire Luwe- Okones- Haack On motion council adjourned until 7:30 P.M. Clerk Mayor. April lsy 1940 Council met in adjourned, session, Mayor Ross and all councilmen present. Mayor Ross reports that he has appointed Otta Tjaden as Marshall, Water Pumper, Street Commissioner and Sewer caretaker. Piayor Ross reports that he has appointed Dr F R Ford as Health Physician. The council appointed Albert W Meyer as Weed Commissioner. It was moved by fi P Kruse and seconded by Haack that the Peoples Savings Bank, Wellsburg, be designated as Depository for the Town of Wellsburg, Town funds, Motion carried. Mayor Ross expressed his thanks to the council for their co-operation during the past year, and hoped that this might extend during the next term. The Mayor a so admonished them that all arguments,discords, personal expressions and opinions on any matter pretaining to public matters, or Committee reports,be settled in the Councilroom and let it rest there. Reccomended the following matters That a flat rate on Water pumping be secured. That a Park Board be established. Improvement to the Waterworks system, especially regarding some old valves on Old water mains. See that the New Street lights be placed at most convtatbnt locations. April lst 1940/ Council convened as aBoard of Health. It was moved by Kruse seconded by Okones that we adopt all the Rules and Regulations of the State Board of Health and abide thereby. Appointment of Dr Ford as Health Physicial was approved. Therebeinr no further business it was moved to adjourn Clerk. r y o r April lst 1940. Council met as a Board of Review. Councilmen all present. H L Luwe was appointed Chairman and H P Kruse Secretary .of the meeting; Assessor Geerdes was present and the assessors Books were .canvassed but not completed. Be it resolved by the Town council of the Town of Wellsburg Iowa; That. — Washington Street from 4th st. to a point 400 ft north of Railroad intersection; Adams Street, from 4th st. to Railroad intersection; Jefferson St. from 4th st to lst street; Madison St. from 4th st to 1st street; Monroe St. from 4th st. to a point 100 feet north of ist St Adama Street Col ege Hill Park, from 4th st. to McAdoo Ave. Madison Street College Hill Park, from 9th st. to McAdoo. Lincolla Ave, from 4th street to 5t11 street. Wilson Ave College Hill Park from Adams st to Madison St College Hill Park. First St. from Washington to Monroe St. Second Street, from Washington to Monroe St. Third Street, from Washington to Monroe St. Fourth Street, from the West Corporation line to a point eOO feet east of intersection of Jackson Street, from 4th st. to 6th Street. Fifth Street from Lincoln st to Washington St. Sixth Street, from Lincoln st to Washington St. Be and the same is hereby ordered oiled, and the entire cost thereof except the cost of oiling intersections, shall be assessed to the property abutting on such streets in proportion to the benefits conferred thereby. April loth 1940 k-ecial meeting of the Town council called by Mayor Ross r the purpose of considering and passing upon the following tters to come before the council; °eet Lighting; Park matters; Cigarette Permits; Oiling ,.solution and other business that may come before the council . Mayor Ross presiding and all councilmen present; pplication for a Cigarette permit was presented for A T Idso coffee Shop. It was moved that a permit be granted to A T Idso for igarettes, he having complied with all the terms of said rdinance. It was moved that the Bond of A T Idso be approved. Mayor Ross read a report that a Landscape man from Ames ould meet with the council Apr 26, to suggest matters pertaining o Landscapinm the park.
