SUPPORTING SENATE BILL S-1882
'WHEREAS, Senate Bill S-1882, released by the Senate Education Committee,
amending CAOA:65-3, authorizes shared service agreements for adult school crossing
guards services between municipalities and all school districts, including those under
State supervision pursuant to section 1 of C.18A:7A-34, and charter schools, so that
municipalities can defray the cost, in salary and benefits ofthe crossing guards; and
WHEREAS, as such, S-1882 states that appointment of adult school crossing guards and
their assignment to specific locations shall be the primary responsibility of the local
school district, and charter school trustees in the case of a charter schoof, after
consultation with -the chief of police; and
WHEREAS, S-1882 gives boards ef education primary responsibility to hire and assign
school crossing guards; and
WHEREAS, the New Jersey Leagne of Municipalities strongly supports S-1882 as
released and has requested that all of its members to go on record similarly supporting the
same.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
ofCarteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, as folfows:
1. That the Borough of Carteret hereby supports Senate Bill S-1882 released
by the Senate Education Committee.

2. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the New Jersey Leagne of
Municipalities.
