RESOLUTION NO. 10-8097
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA TO PROVIDE FOR CITY
COMMISSION REVIEW OF NEW CODE ENFORCEMENT
LIENS ON HOMESTEAD PROPERTIES; PROVIDING FOR
RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, code enforcement liens upon property can only be disposed of by the City
Commission or through a process established by the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, Homestead property owners who reside in their home in the City of Opa-
locka are suffering from the effects of the economy, and the City Commission of the City of Opa-
locka wishes to lessen the burden on these property owners; and
WHEREAS, the City of Opa-locka code enforcement liens are intended to ensure
compliance, and not for revenue purposes; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of Opa-locka desires that new code enforcement liens
on all Homestead properties be brought before the City Commission for consideration to
determine possible waiver or reduction of lien.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka, hereby authorizes and
directs the City Manager to provide for City Commission review of new code enforcement liens
on homestead properties in the City of Opa-locka.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
