AU lHORIZING THE-2008 SEWER REBATE PROGRAM
IN THE BOROUGH OF CARTERET
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret established a sewer user fee ordinance for the
purpose of covering the cost of the Borough's sewer system; and
,'VHEREAS,_ the Mayor and Council desire to implement relief to the senior citizens,
permanently and totally disabled residents and veterans or their surviving spouse in the
form of a $50.00 se\,:er rebate for. the 2008 calendar year; and
WHEREAS, the following conditions have to be met in order to qualify for the $50.00
sewer rebate program:
1. The property must be owner occupied as of January 1, 2008 as a single~farnily
residential unit.
2. Property taxes and sewer user fees are npt in arrears and must be current as of
the date of their application.
3. The rebate application must be filed with the tax collector's office on or
before October I, 2008.
4. Veterans who were honorable discharged with proper DD214.
5. 'Widows of Veteran with honorable discharged papers spouse's Death
Certificate, no income requirement, no age limit.
6. Senior Citizen must be 65 years of age or older by December 31, 2008,
adequate proof of age must be supplied; no income requirement.
7. Permanently and Totally Disabled residents "iith Social Security Award
Certificate or doctor's report of disability, proof of income, $25,000.00 or less
excluding social security with certain exceptions, no age limit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ,RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
ofCalieret, Cou.nty of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, that the Tax Collector implement
a 2008 Sewer Rebate Program for qualified resident owners as defined above and subject
to the Borough guidelines, issue rebate checks accordingly, and report to the governing
body of all transactions.
