RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A
REVISED INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT - MIDDLESEX COUNTY STREET
PAVING PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Jnterlocal Services Act, NJ.S.A. 40:8A-1 et seq., encourages counties
and municipalities to enter into contracts for the joint provision of services in order to
effectuate economies in government costs to reduce property taxes and provides legal
authority and procedures to effechIate such agreements; and
WHEREAS, the County of Middlesex (the "County") and the Borough of Carteret (the
''Borough'') are desirous of entering into such an Interlocal Services Agreement
providing for the milling and resurfacing of various streets within the Borough in
conjunction with the 2008 County Road Paving Program; and

WHEREAS, this agreement will effectuate economy by coordinating the milling and
resurfacing of various Borough streets with the County Road Resurfacing Program; and
WHEREAS, in accord with N.J.S.A. 40:8A-4, said proposed contract is available and
open to public inspection at the Office of the Carteret Municipal Clerk, Carteret
Municipal Building, 61 Cooke Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey, between the hours of 8:00
a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Calieret as follows:
1. That the Mayor and Borough Clerk are hereby authorized to execute the
proposed revised Interlocal Services Agreement with the County of Middlesex
providing for the milling and resurfacing of various Borough streets as
detailed in said Agreement and in a form acceptable to the Borough Attorney.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution with original signatures and the
Borough Seal, along with three executed copies of the aforementioned
Interlocal Services Agreement, be forwarded to David R. Campion, Director
of Public \-Vorks, for processing.
Adopted this 21" day of August, 2008
and certified as a true copy of the
original on August 22, 2008.
