Resolution No. 10-8120
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, TO AUTHORIZE THE
CITY MANAGER TO CREATE A CITY YOUTH COUNCIL;
PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,the Florida League of Cities has established a Guide for Creating a City Youth
Council; and
WHEREAS,the youth of our City are a valuable resource which should be heard from and
included in government; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka desires to promote and
encourage our young people to become part of the youth-initiative involvement in the community
and local government; and
WHEREAS, in order to insure developmental involvement of our youth in the community,
the City of Opa-locka desires to create a City Youth Council:
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby authorizes and directs
the City Manager to create a City Youth Council for involvement in local governmental and civic
matters.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
