WHEREAS, Gatepath, a nonprofit established in 1920 to improve the health
and welfare of children with developmental disabilities in San
Mateo County, is celebrating its milestone 100th Anniversary in
2020; and
WHEREAS, over the years Gatepath has developed a large portfolio of services
that today support individuals with special needs and
developmental disabilities of all ages from infants to seniors; and
WHEREAS: Gatepath, with 300 dedicated staff members, provides direct
services at 13 locations in both Santa Clara and San Mateo
Counties; and
WHEREAS, Gatepath, now one of the largest nonprofits serving the disabilities
community on the Peninsula, impacts more than 15,000 families,
caregivers and individuals each year with its programs; and
WHEREAS, Gatepath’s lifespan of services include developmental screenings
for children, early intervention and pediatric therapy, inclusive
preschools, social and recreational opportunities for youth;
employment training and placement, as well as community
integration and independent living skills for adults; and
WHEREAS, Gatepath is very proud to celebrate 100 years of creating a world
where people of all abilities are accepted, respected and included
in all aspects of society – from the classroom to the workplace, and
is committed to ensuring inclusive opportunities are available for
decades to come.
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, the members of the Millbrae City Council do hereby
congratulate and commend
GATEPATH
100TH ANNIVERSARY
for its work to empower people with special needs and developmental disabilities
to achieve their full potential through innovative, inclusive programs and
community partnerships.
