WHEREAS, Gatepath Auxiliary, a nonprofit established in 1950 dedicated to
supporting children and adults in the community with special
needs and developmental disabilities through the program at
Gatepath, celebrated its 70th Anniversary in January 2020; and
WHEREAS, over the years the Auxiliary and its members have donated more
than $4 million to Gatepath through special fundraising events
that has allowed Gatepath to expand and diversify its programs
and serve more individuals and families each year; and
WHEREAS: the Auxiliary, with 170 dedicated members, provides about 6,000
hours annually in volunteer service to support Gatepath
programs; and
WHEREAS, the majority of the Auxiliary members have been serving the
community for more than 20 years; and
WHEREAS, Gatepath Auxiliary’s founding member Ruth Heimann and first
President of the Auxiliary Catherine Campbell Hearst led the
Auxiliary in establishing several social events for the children,
youth and adults who were part of the Gatepath programs that are
still taking place today; and
WHEREAS, Gatepath Auxiliary members are very proud to celebrate 70 years
of supporting Gatepath’s mission of creating a world where people
of all abilities are accepted, respected and included in all aspects
of society – from the classroom to the workplace.
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, the members of the Millbrae City Council do hereby
honor and commend
GATEPATH AUXILIARY
70TH ANNIVERSARY
for demonstrating its long-standing commitment to impacting the lives of the
children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities in the community.
