HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance #145 TOWN OF FRASER ORDINANCE NO. 145 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 83 PROVIDING FOR COMPENSATION OF THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR THE TOWN OF FRASER WHEREAS, 831-4-301(4), Colorado Revised Statutes, as amended, provides for the Mayor and members of the Board of Trustees to receive such compensation as may be fixed by Ordinance; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 83 adopted October 3, 1979 established Mayor's compensation at Sixty Dollars ($60.00) per meeting and Trustees compensation at Forty Dollars ($40.00) per meeting; and WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Town of Fraser is of the opinion that the burdens of Town business justify an increase in the payment of compensation to the Mayor and the Board of Trustees; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF FRASER, COLORADO, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Compensation. ( 1) That for each regular or special Board of Tru stees' meeting at which a quorum is present and official business is transacted, each Trustee present shall receive Sixty Dollars ($60.00) and the Mayor, or Mayor Pro-Tem if the Mayor is absent, shall receive Eighty Dollars ($80.00) as compensation for the services rendered to the Town of Fraser. No compensation shall be rendered for workshop meetings at which no official business is transacted. Section 2. Effective Date. (1) That the compensation provided for above shall begin for all regular and special meetings held after the regular election of the Mayor and Trustees held in 1988. Section 3. Prior Ordinance. (1) Except as changed herein, Ordinance No. 83 shall remain the same. Section 4. Severability. G: \ users \Board \ Ordinances \ 1986 \ 145. bdcompens.doc ýÿ (1) If any part, section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance and the Town Board hereby declares it would have passed this Ordinance, and each part, section, subsection, sentence, clause of phrase thereof, regardless of the fact that any one or more parts, sections, subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases be declared invalid. Section 5. Health, Safety and Welfare. (1) The Town Board hereby finds, determines and declares that this ordinance is necessary and proper for the health, safety, and welfare of the Town of Fraser and the inhabitants thereof. Section 6. Emergency Adoption. ( 1) This Ordinance shall become effective upon adoption by the Board of Trustees and execution hereof by the Mayor and Town Clerk for the reason that there is the immediate need to preserve the public health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the Town of Fraser the reason that reason that the regular election is April 1, 1986 at which time this Ordinance needs to be effective for the newly elected Trustees, but for which the compensation shall not become payable until after the 1988 election.
