Description: Miami Dade County has a contract with the city to provide sewage disposal services. The current five year contract expires on January 16, 2011. This City, similar to many other municipalities in Dade County relies on Miami Dade County for this vital service of sewage disposal. The newly proposed contract will be for an extended period of twenty years. Financial Impact: The City shall pay a monthly charge based on a uniform rate for the County's volume customers. An annual adjustment is imposed the following fiscal year on completion of an actual audited report from the Department. Implementation Time Line: The new contract will commence in January 2011. Legislative History: The City has entered into a contract with the County from January 1996. Since then the contract has been renewed three times. Recommendation(s): Staff recommends approval. Analysis: The City does not have the capacity to dispose of its sewage. This service agreement has been successful over the past(14)fourteen years and should be extended.
