A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF NEW VEHICLES FOR THE
MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION,PAYABLE FROM ACCOUNT
#19-519648;PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,the City desires that the Mayor and City Commission have new vehicles at their
disposal; and
WHEREAS, there will be four (4) new Ford Taurus replacement vehicles purchased at
$26,412.00 per vehicle,total cost$105,648.00;and a Ford Expedition purchased at$27,402.00;and
WHEREAS,the trade-in value of three(3)existing Ford Taurus at$10,000.00 per vehicle,
totaling $30,000.00, less the outstanding balance of$24,394.00; and
WHEREAS, the estimated amount over due over a four (4) year period for all of the new
vehicles is$127,444.00,with a total yearly payment of$31,861.00,payable from Account Number
19-519648.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby authorizes the City
Manager to purchase the new vehicles as follows: four (4) new Ford Taurus; and one (1) Ford
Expedition, with an estimated yearly payment of$31,861.00, which totals$127,444.00 over a four
(4) year period, payable from Account Number 19-519648.

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.

Request: STAFF IS REQUESTING THAT THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-
LOCKA AUTHORIZES THE LEASE PURCHASE OF NEW VEHICLES FOR THE
MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION PAYABLE FROM ACCOUNT NUMBER 19-
519648.
Description: Lease Purchase new Ford Taurus for Mayor Taylor,Vice Mayor Johnson,Commissioner Tydus and
Commissioner Miller. Estimated cost per vehicle is $26,412.00 x 4=$105,648.00.
Lease Purchase new Ford Expedition for Commissioner Holmes. Estimated cost is$27,402.00.
Estimated cost reduction from Trade-in values of three(3)current Ford Taurus=$10,000 per vehicle=
$(30,000.00)reduction.
Outstanding balance on the three(3)current Ford Taurus=$24,394.00.
Estimated amount needed over four(4)years for new vehicles is: $127,444.00. Total yearly
payment is$31,861.00.
Financial Impact: Total annual cost of vehicle lease purchase will be$31,861.00, Payable from account 19-519648. The
FY 2010-2011 has $18,000 budgeted for lease payments. The remaining balance will be addressed during the budget
amendment.
