Resolution No. 10-8163
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, TO SUPPORTS THE USFDA IN ITS
EFFORTS TO BAN CAFFEINE IN ALCHOLIC BEVERAGES;
PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,a warning has been issued that caffeine added to alcoholic beverages makes the
drinks unsafe; and
WHEREAS, a campaign is underway to have drinks that combine the two elements of
alcohol and caffeine outlawed;
WHEREAS, the US food and drug watchdog is poised to ban caffeine in alcoholic
beverages; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka desires to support the USFDA
ban on alcoholic beverages containing caffeine.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka supports the USFDA in its
efforts to ban caffeine in alcoholic beverages.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
