Tonight:
Review Report and Provide Guidance on Policy Issues.
Minimum Wage and Wage Theft
Background:
State Minimum Wage currently:
●$12/hour for Employers with 25 or less Employees;
●$13/hour for Employers with 26 or more Employees
●Increasing in Annual Increments of $1 until reaching $15/hour.
Locally, many cities already at or above $15/hour Minimum
Wage with annual inflation escalator.
Minimum Wage and Wage Theft
Recommendations –Wage, Increases and Employer Size:
Wage Option 1: Defer to State at $13/hour for all Employers; or
Wage Option 2: Setting Wage $15/hour as of 1/2021.
Annual CPI Escalator (Bay Area) Capped at 3.5% Increase.
All Employers Treated the Same, Regardless of Size.

Staff recommends that the City Council review the report
and Provide Guidance to Staff.
