AMENDING CHAPTER 182 ENTITLED PARKS
AND CREATING A NEW ARTICLE, ENTITLED
BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR ORGANIZATIONS
USING PUBLic FIELDS WITHIN THE BOROUGH OF CARTERET
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Councit of the Borough of Carteret ("Borough")
as follows:
Section 1. The Code of the Borough of Carteret is hereby amended and supplemented to
create a new Article in Chapter 182 entitled "Background Checks for
Organizations Using Public Fields Within The Borough of Carteret" to read
as follows:
~ 182-19. Background Investigation of Applicant
Any employees and/or volunteers of a fonnal sports organization,
youth group and/or non~profit organization receiving a subsidy of
any kind from Borough who are responsible for the supervision of
children associated with the use of a public field for any organized
play shall. be subject to a complete background investigation as
determined by the Carteret Police Department, with all such
investigations to be completed within twetve (12) months for aU
such current individuals, and for any new individuals, prior to their
start of such supervisory activities.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with the provision oftrus
ordinance are hereby repealed limited to the extent of any such inconsistency.
Section 3. If any section, paragraph, sub-division, clause or provision ofthis ordinance is
adjudged invalid, such adjudication shall appty onty to the section, paragraph,
sub-division, clause or provision so adjudged and the remainder oftrus
ordinance shall be deemed valid and effective.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publication according
to applicable law.
