HomeMy Public PortalAbout1975-08-18 Special Town Mtg Report REPORT OF THE SPECIAL TOWN MEETING August 18, 1975 In accordance with the Warrant, the meeting was held in the Brewster Elementary School Auditorium, Monday -evening, August 189 1975. The meeting was called to order by the Moderator, Stephen Boyle, at 7:30 p.m. , a quorum being present. The Registras were Dorothea Dugan, Jean Gage and ;on Howard. The Tellers were Paul Sylver, Dorothy Grenier, Gladys Curtis, Loris Powell,, and J. Ogden Tyl dsl ey, Jr. The page was Jed Duffy. The Warrant was read by the Town Clerk, Ruth Eddy, with the exception of the articles, which were read as they were being considered. There was a moment of silent meditation followed by the Salute to the Flag. It was voted to tape record this meeting. It was voted that the first reading of the articles of the Warrant be omitted. AMICLE I . To see if the Town of Brewster will accept as a gift, acquire by purchase, or take by eminent domain under the provisions of Chapter 79 of the General Laws, for the municipal purposes of an Elementary School construction site, a parcel of land now or formerly owned by Freeman Atwood, the heirs of Freeman Atwood, Nellie M. Atwood, the heirs of Nellie M. Atwood, Alice Edna Knight, the heirs of Alice Edna Knight, Mae Guild Atwoodt the heirs of Mae Guild Atwood, the Tpwn of Brewster, and persons unknown. And to transfer from free cash the sum of one ($1.00) Dollar therefor anal authorize the Selectmen to take any and all action necessary thereto. ARTICLE 2. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sura of money, to be expended under the direction of the Board of Selectmen, for the purpose of retaining an independent consultant to study the present operation of the Town Offices and to recommend any and all pertinent changes in ad- ministrative and financial systems, personnel and equipment necessary to en-- able the 'Town Offices to operate more efficiently. This article was postponed indefinitely. 4MIC- 3. To see if the Toof Brewster will vote to transfer a sum of money from e Junior Office Clerk Wages Account to the Senior Office Clerk Wages Account. VOTED that the Town of Brewster transfer the sum of Five Thousand one hundred and fifty :"ollars and twenty-five Cents ($5,150.25) from the Junior Office Clerk :. Wages Account to the Senior Office Clerk wages Account. ARTICLE 4. To see if the Town will vote to delete a sum of moneys not to exceed Twenty-four Thousand ($24,000.00) Dollars from the "Elementary School Operations- Fiscal 1976" Account, so that the funds budgeted in excess of the "Contracted Transportationtl contract will not be reflected in the Fiscal 1976 tax rate. NOTE: Line Item #3374.01 - "Contracted Transportationll was budgeted for $451,000-00- A motion: was wade that the Town vote to delete the sum of Twenty-two Thousand ($22,000.00) Dollars from the "Elementary School Operations-Fiscal 197611 Account. A10MDIiaWll VOTED that the Town delete the sum of Twenty-four 'Thousand ($24,000.00) Dollars from the "Elementary School OAerations-Fiscal- 1976" Account. 'TOTED Yes 134 - No 6 to delete a sutra of money, not to exceed Twenty-four Thousand ($24,000.00) Dollars from the "Elementary School Operations-Fiscal 197611 Account.
