March 6, 1975
In accordance with the Warrant, the meeting was held in the Nauset
Regional ;diddle School Gymnasiums, Thursday evening, March 5, 1975.
The meeting was called to order by the Moderator, Stephen Doyle at
7:45 p.m. , a quorum (122) being present. The Registrars were Jean Gage and
Dorothea Dugan. The Tellers were Paul Sylver, Gladys Curtis, Dorothy Grenier,
Richard Kingston and J.Ogden Tyldsley, Jr. The Pages were Jed Duffy, Sylvia
Eldridge and Melissa Hansen.
The Warrant was read by the Town Clerk, Ruth Eddy, with the esception of
the articles, which were read as they were being considered. There was a
period of silent meditation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
ARTICLE 1. To see if the Town will vote to request the Selectmen to include
on the official ballot for the next Annual Town Election the following question
pursuant to Section 21 , Chapter 41 of the General Laws:
"Shall the Town vote to have its Selctmen appoint a Board of Cemetery
Commissioners?"
This article was indefintely postponed.
ARTICLE 2. To see if the Town will vote to transfer the sum of One Hundred
Dollars ($100.00) from the Senior Office Clerk Wages Account to the Junior
Office Clerk Wages Account.
VOTED that the Town transfer the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) from the
Senior Office Clerk Wages account to the Junior Office Clerk Wages Account.
ARTICLE 3. To see if the Town will vote to transfer from Available Funds the
sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1 ,000.00) for the Brewster Bi—Centennial Committee
to fund the cost of planting fifty (50) trees along :Route 6A, representative
of the fifty (50) states.
VOTED THAT THE Town transfer from Free Cash the sum of Five Hundred Dollars
($500.00) for the Brewster Bi—Centennial Committee to fund the cost of plant—
ing fifty (50) trees along Route 6A, representative of the fifty (5 0) states.
ARTICLE 4. To see if the Town will vote to transfer from Revenue Sharing F`�nds
the sum of Two Thousand Dollars, ($?000.00) for the purpose of funding the
activites of the Brewster Council on Aging.
VOTED that the Town transfer from Revenue Sharing Funds the sum of Two Thousand
Dollars ($2,000.00) for the purpose of funding the activities of the Brewster
Council on Aging.
ARTICLE 5. To see if the Town will vote to transfer from Available Funds the
sum of One 'Thousand, Seven Hundred Dollars ($1 ,700.00) to settle a personal
injury (service connected) claim against the Town by former Police Officer
I.�yrl Blanchard, money to be expended under the direction of the Board of Selectmen.
VOTED THAT the Town transfer from Free Cash the sun of One Thousand, Seven,
Hundred Dollars ($1 ,700.00) to settle a personal injury (service Connected) claim
against the Town by former Police Officer Myrl Blanchard, money to be expended
under the direction of the Board of Selectmen.
PR'TICLE 6. To see if the Town wil vote to transfer from Available Funds the sum
of Fifteen Hundred Dollars ($1 :500.00) to the School Lunch revolving Account.
VOTED that the Town transfer from Free Cash the sum of One Thousand Dollars
($1 ,000.00) to the School Lunch Revolting Account.
ARTTCLE 7. To see if the Town will vote to transfer the sum of Five Thousand,
Five Hundred Dollars ($5,500.00) from the Interest on Loans for Architectural_
Services—view School Account to the School. Building Committee Expenses Account.
VOTED that the Town transfer the sum of Five Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars
..-- ($5,500.00) from the Interest on Loans for Architectural Services—view School
Account to the School Building Committee Expenses Account.
ARTICLE R. To see if the `l'own will vote to transfer from the Road 7achinery
General Fund to the Road Machinery Expense Account the sum of One Thousand
Dollars ($1 ,000.00, to be used for the maintenance and operation of road
machinery.
VOTED that the Town transfer from the Road Machinery General Fund to the Road
Machinery Expense Account the sun of One Thousand Dollars ($1 ,000.00) to be
used for the maintenance and operation of road machinery.

.AURTICLE 9. To see if the :own will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to
rake an additional layout of the southwest corner of Lower Road at Route 6A and
instruct the Selectmen to proceed with the appraisal and engineering for the
construction of a safety traff"'ic island at this intersection and take any
appropriate action relative thereto.
This article wras defeated.
ARTTCLZ 10. To see if the Town will vote to accept the additional layout of the
southwest corner of Underpass Road at Route 6A as made and reported by the
Selectmen on November 6, 1974, as shown on a plan drawn by Nickerson & Berger
and on file with, the Town Clerk, and to authorize the Selcten to purchase,
take by eminent domain or otherwise acquire the title to the.fee in the land
within the layout and to act fully thereon and transfer from Chapter 1140, Acts
or 1974, Section 20 Funds a sum not exceeding Two Thousand, Four ?hundred
Fifteen Dollars f$2,41,5.00) to be used for land taking.
Argendment was voted to take by eminent domain.
AME DED ARTICLE VOTED that the gown vote to accept the additional layout of
the southwest corner of underpass Road at Route 6A as made and reported by
the Selectmen. on November 6, 1974, as shown on a plan drawn by Nickerson &
Berger and on file with the Town Clerk, and to authorize the Selectmen to
take by eminent domain_ the title to the fee in the lard within said layout
and to act fully thereon and transfer from Chapter 1140, Acts of 1974,
Section 20 Funds a sun not exceeding Two Thousand, Four Hundred Fifteen Dollars
($2,415.00) to be for land taking. ',noted yes 482, no 46.
ARTICLE 11 . To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money for constructing,
originally equipping and furnishing a new elementary school, to determine
whether such appropriation shall be raised by borrowing or a.therwise, or to
take any other action relative thereto.
VOTED yes 375, no 157 that the Town authorize the `treasurer, with the approval
of the Selectmen, to borrow the sum of Three Million Five Hundred. Thousand
Dollars ($3,5CC,000.00) for constructing and originally equipping and
furnishing a new elementa=ry school under Chapter 645 of the Acts of 1548 as
amended, provided however, that no such borrowing shall be incurred unless
the Selectmen determine that State aid in the form of a total construction
grant of at least 50% of the final approved cost of the school project is
approved therefor; and that the School Building Committee is authorized to
take all action necessary to carry out this 'vote. (A ballot vote was taken)
There being no further business, it was voted to adjoun at 10:4.5 p.m.
