CITY OF JEFFERSON
Finance Committee Meeting
Tuesday, March 26, 2013
MINUTES
The meeting was called to order by the Finance Committee Chairman, Councilman Shawn Schulte at 7:31 AM.
Roll call showed that Councilmen Schulte, Pope and Bray were in attendance. Councilman Weber and
Councilwoman Carroll were absent. Councilwoman Carroll joined the meeting at 7:34 AM.
The minutes of the February 19, 2013 meeting were reviewed and a motion to approve was made by
Councilman Bray and seconded by Councilman Pope. The minutes were approved unanimously.
The next item on the agenda was a report by Interim Finance Director, Bill Betts, covering the sales tax revenue
for March. Mr. Betts also presented the projection revisions to the General Fund Sales Tax and the C apital
Improvement Sales Tax Funds that had been discussed in previous meetings .
The next item on the agenda was a short report by the Chief Accountant, Shiela Pearre, covering the Lodging
Tax receipts to date. Lodging tax collected in February was $84,296. The total collected during the timeframe
where the rate has been 7% is $1,788,942.
The next item on the agenda was a brief status update from Ms. Pearre regarding the City’s annual audit.
The next item on the agenda was the presentation of monthly financial reports by Mr. Betts.

The next item on the agenda was New Business. Councilman Pope requested that the Finance Committee be
allowed to send a representative to the Benefit Committee who would liaison with staff and report back to the
Finance Committee. Councilman Pope also discussed the fact that he was considering sponsoring a bill that
would change the compensation of council members to $1 per year.
There was no old business discussed.
A motion was made by Councilman Bray and seconded by Councilman Pope to adjourn. Adjournment took
place at 8:26 AM.
