HomeMy Public PortalAboutPSDR Spring 2022 Update Changes Updates to Standard Pump Station 1 Metropolitan Saint Louis Sewer District Design and Construction Requirements April 2022 APRIL 2022 UPDATES TO PSDR Purpose The purpose of this memorandum is to summarize the updates that were made to the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) Pump Station Design Requirements (PSDR) in April 2022. Section 2 Pump Station and Force Main Criteria 2.03 Pump Selection Design • Added subpart 4 to Item B describing the use of hydraulic computer models. Section 3 Structure Requirements 3.10 Detention Chamber • Added Item F requiring the use of a watertight epoxy liner for RCP pipe. • Modified Item G to direct the reader to Section 4 for watertight epoxy liner specifications. 3.12 Fall Arrest Post Anchor and Baseplate • Added Part 3.12 Fall Arrest Post Anchor and Baseplate with Items A through H to specify the design requirements for a concrete fall arrest post anchor and a metal baseplate for use with MSD’s fall arrest systems. Section 4 Piping and Valves 4.02 Force Main Pipe Material • Revised Item B subpart 2 to add additional descriptive content for three-inch (3”) Diameter PVC Forcemain from four feet (4’) outside the valve chamber wall to the discharge manhole. 4.03 Force Main Requirements • Item A o Subpart 1 Air Relief/Vacuum Valves (ARV)—added parts a and f to specify an isolation valve underneath the ARV and a non-slam option when installed inside the pump station. Also revised part g regarding the acceptable manufacturer and sizing of the valve. o Subpart 7 By-Pass Portal—revised the dimensions of the bollard concrete base in part e to correspond with the PSDR drawings. o Subpart 9—changed the Locator Marking Rope specification to a Locator Warning Tape product. Updates to Standard Pump Station 2 Metropolitan Saint Louis Sewer District Design and Construction Requirements April 2022 4.11 Detention Pipe • Added Item D to specify watertight epoxy liner material to use when RCP is used for the detention chamber. Section 6 Pump Station Appurtenances 6.09 Pressure Sensor Units • Revised Item C to require the Contractor to provide mounting accessories and 2” pipe and fittings. • Revised wording of Pressure Sensor to Isolator Ring in Item D 6.11 Magnetic Flowmeters • Revised Item B subpart 7 to state the flow converter/totalizer shall be mounted within the control panel. Section 7 Electrical 7.01 Pump Control Panel • Revised Item C subpart 7 for support requirements when remote mounting distribution equipment. • Added Item S subpart 2 to specify power supply for float IS barriers, backup float control, and PLC IO. 7.07 Field Wiring Specifications • Revised Part A subpart 1 from THHN wire to THWN copper wire. 7.08 Conduit Specifications • Revised Part A subpart 2 and 3 to add conduit seal requirements. Drawings Miscellaneous Details Sheet • Added Fall Arrest Post Anchor and Baseplate detail. Three Phase Duplex Pump Control Panel • Updated schematic to add individual Circuit breakers for each pump control • Updated schematic to add additional 24VDC power supply Single Phase Duplex Pump Control Panel • Updated schematic to add individual Circuit breakers for each pump control • Updated schematic to add additional 24VDC power supply • Updated Control interface to show typical VFD inputs
