Meeting called to order at 7:11PM
Attending Meeting: Jean Bertschman, Jane Roche, Ron Foisy, Phil Powers, Linda Katz, Kim Hesse, Sue
Hadley, Karl Morningstar, Taru Kinnunen.
Others Attending: Dorothy Maruska, Mark Kosa
Motion to approve May agenda, approved unanimously.
Motion to approve April minutes, approved unanimously.
Early Release: No ER for the 14th. Cancelled due to lack of participation. Dorothy to contact Nancy
about attending at the next meeting to review and reco changes for next year.
Hopkinton Running Club: Kathleen Karpe and Karen O'Neil committed to this event; Kim Harvey will act
as liaison to the Youth Commission.
beFree: April 16th event had fewer kids, but was well received. HCAM video’d performances, working
to find a way to cross promote. Sending out a letter w/o may 24th on tips to stay safe around
graduation: coming out from Alyson Geary and Phil Powers. Try to use HCAM to publicize. Working to
used the MWHF grant money to seek out additional funding. Focus on Parent Education.
It takes a village: Cheryl and Abby are continuing to publish, once per month. Working on a new article
on bullying, hopefully in the next issue or two.
Job Description: see attached.
8. Tobacco bylaws – presented to board of health in Oct. Phil asked the commission to ask the Board of
Health to see what the status of the proposal is. He will send Ron the proposal, and Ron will contact the
BOH. Separately, the Police association annual fishing derby on May 8th, rain date on the 15th, for kids
15 and under.
9 Budget – presented money for a youth director. Think about what role/what work needs to be done.
