Resolution No. 11-8201
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA, TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY
MANAGER TO PARTNER WITH"CITIZENS FOR A BETTER
SOUTH FLORIDA",FOR A REPLANTING PROGRAM RUN IN
CONJUNCTION WITH THE STATE OF FLORIDA'S
DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY; PROVIDING FOR
INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the goal of"Citizens for a Better South Florida" is to educate and inspire
residents to become active stewards of the South Florida environment; and
WHEREAS,the initiative is based on community building and educating the residents about
the benefits of trees through a street tree planting block event that the neighborhoods organize; and
WHEREAS,through collaborative effort,the City of Opa-locka and the Citizens for a Better
South Florida will provide environmental education for diverse communities and learning that is
experiential and hands-on; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka desires to support the Urban
Greening and Community Forestry Program:Neighbors Replanting Neighborhoods Program through
a partnership with Citizens for a Better South Florida.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble are hereby incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka,Florida hereby authorizes the
City Manager to partner with "Citizens for a Better South Florida" (CITIZENS), a Neighbors
Resolution No. 11-8201
Replanting Neighborhoods Program, run in partnership with the State of Florida's Department of
Forestry,a partnership whose main goal is to educate and inspire the residents of the City to become
active stewards of the South Florida environment.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
