A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA,TO RESCIND RESOLUTION NO.
11-8213,ADOPTED APRIL 21,2011,AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO APPLY FOR AN OJJPD FY2011 SECOND
CHANCE ACT JUVENILE MENTORING INITIATIVE GRANT;
PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on April 27, 2011, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka
adopted Resolution No. 11-8213, authorizing the City Manager to apply an OJJPD FY2011
Second Chance Act Juvenile Mentoring Initiative Grant; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka now deems it advisable
to rescind the resolution adopted on the April 27, 2011.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka rescinds Resolution No. 11-
8213,adopted April 27,2011,authorizing the City Manager to apply for an OJJPD FY2011 Second
Chance Act Juvenile Mentoring Initiative Grant.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, TO AUTHORIZE THE
CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE
OFFICE OF JUVENILE JUSTICE AND DELINQUENCY
PREVENTION (OJJDP) FOR THE FY 2011 SECOND
CHANCE ACT JUVENILE MENTORING INITIATIVE
GRANT FOR AN AMOUNT UP TO SIX HUNDRED AND
TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($625,000.00);
PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) seeks
applicants for its FY 2011 Second Chance Act Juvenile Mentoring Initiative Grant; and
WHEREAS, the Grant will be for the purpose of supporting the successful transition and
reintegration of juvenile offenders from correctional facilities into the community; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka desires to provide transitional
services to assist in the support and training of juvenile offenders, which in turn will reduce
recidivism among juvenile ex-offenders and enhance safety in the community; and
WHEREAS, OJJDP will award up to $625,000.00 toward a three (3) year project period,
covering 75% of the total cost, while 25% of the total cost must be matched by the City of Opa-
locka,either in cash or in-kind services,the exact method of which will be determined at a later date.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:

Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby authorizes and directs
the City Manager to submit an application to the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency
Prevention(OJJDP)for the FY 2011 Second Chance Act Juvenile Mentoring Initiative Grant,for an
amount up to Six Hundred and Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($625,000.00).
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
