RESOLUTION NO. ~p_h q
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD URGING,PASSAGE OF SENATE
BILL NO. 92
WHEREAS, prior to January 1, 19$0, Business and Pro-
fessions Code Section 13300 required every retail grocery
store and grocery department within a retail merchandise
store which used an automatic checkout system to have a
clearly readable price indicated on each packaged consumer
commodity offered .for sale; and
WHEREAS, such legislation had the beneficial effect
of clearly, immediately, and directly informing consumers
as to the price of packaged consumer commodities being con-
sidered for purchase; and
WHEREAS, the aforesaid requirement of Business and
Professions Code X13300 is not applicable to the sale of
packaged consumer commodities subsequent to January 1,
1980; and
' WHEREAS, the interests of the public would best be
served by the reinstatement of the aforesaid requirement;
and,
WHEREAS, Senate Bill No. 92 would provide for an ex-
tension of the requirement of Business and Professions Code
Section 13300,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood
HEREBY DOES RESOLVE that the Legislature and the Governor
of the State of~California hereby are requested to give
favorable consideration to the enactment into law of Senate
Bill No. 92; and said City Council FURTHER RESOLVES that
the Mayor and' or City Manager of the City of Lynwood are
authorized and directed to send copies of this resolution
to appropriate officials of the State Government.
