RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE METROPOLITAN WASTE CONTROL COMMISSION TO PREPARE A STUDY
ON PROVIDING METROPOLITAN SANITARY SEWER SERVICE TO LAND IN THE ELM CREEK WATERSHED
WHEREAS, the Cities of Medina, Plymouth, Corcoran, Maple Grove, Champlin
and Dayton all have land lying in the Elm Creek Drainage Basin which either now
need or may ultimately need access to metropolitan sanitary sewer facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission is responsible for
planning metropolitan sanitary sewer facilities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Medina is now and will be developing on lands through
which a metropolitan interceptor may be required; and
WHEREAS, a study completed now on providing metropolitan sanitary sewer
service to lands in the Elm Creek Drainage Basin would assist the Commission and
local communities to better plan for interim and ultimate facilities that could
result in substantial savings to the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina,
Minnesota:
The Metropolitan Waste Control Commission is hereby requested to study and prepare
a report on providing metropolitan sanitary sewer service for lands in the Elm
Creek Drainage Basin.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted to Lurline
Baker -Kent, Chair of the MWCC; Steve Keefe, Chair of the Metropolitan Council;
MWCC Sewer Representative Paul McCarron; Metropolitan Council Representative
Kenneth Kunzman; State Representatives Ron Abrams, Jim Heap, Linda Scheid, Warren
Limmer, Bill Schreiber and Charlie Weaver; and State Senators Jim Ramstad, William
Luther. Patrick McGowan and Gene Merriam.
