HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-8245 Employees Affected by the Suspension of Car allowance Sponsored by: Commissioner Holmes RESOLUTION NO. 11-8245 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA TO AMEND RESOLUTION 11-8230, WHEREBY EMPLOYEES AFFECTED BY THE SUSPENSION OF CAR ALLOWANCE WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY BACK MONIES RECEIVED FROM FEBRUARY 1, 2011, TO MAY 25, 2011; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Commission of the City of Opa-locka desires to amend Resolution 11-8230, Suspension of Car Allowances and such that those employees whose car allowance was suspended, effective May 25, 2011, should not have to pay back monies received from February 1, 2011 to May 25, 2011. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka, Florida approves the amendment of Resolution 11-8230, such that employees affected by suspension of car allowance, will not have to pay back monies received from February 1, 2011, to May 25, 2011. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption. Atto ;ey Moved by: COMMISSIONER HOLMES Seconded by: VICE MAYOR JOHNSON Commission Vote: 4-1 Commissioner Holmes: YES Commissioner Miller: YES Commissioner Tydus: YES Vice-Mayor Johnson: NO Mayor Taylor: YES Sponsored by: Vice-Mayor Johnson RESOLUTION NO. 11-8230 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA TO TERMINATE NON- CONTRACTUAL CAR ALLOWANCES; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City is currently experiencing a potential financial shortfall, requiring efforts to reduce expenditure wherever possible, including non-contractual car allowances paid to employees; and WHEREAS, car allowances to all employees, except those provided by contract, are to cease immediately, and all car allowances that have been paid since February 1, 2011 are to be reimbursed to the General Fund by the employees no later than March 31, 2012. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka, Florida authorizes and directs the City Manager to terminate all non-contractual car allowances immediately, and to seek reimbursement of all car allowances paid since February 1, 2011, to the General Fund, no later than March 31, 2012.
