PROFESSIONAL SERVICE CONTRACT FOR
LEGAL SERVICES
WHEREAS,.thereexistsa~eedfoc professionalservicesto provide legal
servzces ~n connectzon wx~h various labor and/or personnel
matters involving the Borough as assigned by the Mayor
and Council; and
WHEREAS, legal services are a professional service exempt fi'om the requirement
of public bidding pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A: 11 5 (1) (a); and
WHEREAS, the Local Finance Officer has ccrtified that funds are available..
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carterct does hereby approve thc appointment of Genova, Burns and
Vernoia at a maximum cost not to exceed $30,000.00 billable per attached contract.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Municipal Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute said contract.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the contract is awarded without competitive
bids in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:11-5 (1) (a) due to the specialized and
professional nature of thc services provided.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that a notice of this action shall be published in the
Home News Tribune on May 9~ 2000.

and certified as a true copy of the original
on May 5, 2000.
